Dr. A. C. Sarma

Dr. Ananda Chandra Sarma was born on 15th August 1930 in Polo Field Bamugaon, Tezpur. His schooling began at Kar Memorial School and completed the matriculation examination at Tezpur Govt. HS School. He continued his studies in intermediate science at the prestigious Cotton College. After passing I.Sc Sarma joined Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh. Throughout his school and college life, he represented his institutions in sporting events like cricket and football. In 1958 Sharma graduated from Medical College. He was an Eye Specialist. He retired from government service in 1990 as Addl. CMHO, Sonitpur. On 9th May 2020 at the age of 90 years he left his mortal body.

  • Represented Tezpur District Cricket Team in first "Inter District Cricket Tournament" in 1949-50.
  • Represented Cotton College in "Inter College Cricket Tournament" and was Champion in 1950 and Runner-up in 1951.
  • Represented Guwahati District Cricket Team in "Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy" final and won the trophy against Nagaon in 1950-51 while was a student of Cotton College.
  • Represented as well as Captained Assam Medical College in "Inter College Cricket Tournament" and was "Cricket-Blue" in the year 1956.
  • Represented Assam in "Ranji Trophy Cricket" in 1955-56 and 1956-57.
  • Represented Gauhati University Cricket Team in "Rohinton Baria Trophy" in 1957 at Allahabad.
  • Represented Dibrugarh District Cricket Team several years for "Inter District Cricket Tournament" up to 1969 and Captained the team in 1969 while there as a student and serving in Assam Medical College.

In Football

  • Represented Tezpur District Football Team in "Inter District Football Tournament" in the year 1948 at Nagaon, 1950 at Dhubri and 1953 at Dibrugarh.
  • Represented Tarun Assam Football team in "Independence Trophy" for several times and won the trophy in 1953.
  • Represented Tezpur Town Club in "Bordoloi Trophy" at Guwahati.
  • Represented Tezpur Town Club in "A. T. P. A. Shield" at Jorhat.
  • Represented Gauhati University Football Team in "Inter University Football Tournament" at Saugar (Madhya Pradesh) in 1954 and Jaipur (Rajasthan) in 1955.
  • Represented Assam Medical College Football Team in "Inter College Football Tournament" several times.
